Our Text
We will study the classic Maliki primer al Murshid al Muin ( المرشد المعين على الضرور من علوم الدين ) written by Sidi Abdulwahid ibn Ashir in the 11th century hijri (17th century CE), a prolific faqih and grammarian in Fes. Shaykh Ibn Ashir was both an alumnus and professor at the oldest university in the world: Al Qarawiyyin University ( جامعة القرويين ).
This is a didactic poem (a dense work on a subject designed to be memorized and used as a teaching guide on that subject.
We will benefit from the commentary to this didactic poem written by Muhammad Alamrawi ( محمد العمراوي ) to bridge the gap between learning the rulings and learning the evidences for those rulings. Shaykh Alamrawi is a faculty member and researcher at the same university in Fes.
This contemporary, dalil-first commentary will give Maliki students a firm confidence in the Maliki rulings being firmly rooted in Quran and Sunnah.
